Teachers’ Day, a day dedicated to the noble profession of teaching, is celebrated on the 5th of September every year to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. The Student Council Committee of CMS Business School, functioning under JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), organized the Teachers’ Day event on September 4, 2021. The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Harold Andrew Patrick, Dean, and Professor at Jain (Deemed-to-be University), CMS Business School.
The event began with a welcome address, followed by a brief introduction to the event. Ms. Amrutha BR, a student of CMS Business School, sang the invocation song to mark the commencement of Teachers’ Day celebrations. Post the invocation song Dr. Harold Andrew Patrick addressed the faculty members and students. He spoke about the importance of teachers for the progress and development of a society. Highlighting the ongoing pandemic, he acknowledged and appreciated how teachers worked hard and evolved to catch up with the online mode of teaching. He expressed his admiration for the way teachers worldwide remain dedicated to their wards during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said, “Teaching is a passion and not a profession.” Dr. Patrick mentioned and praised Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam for their dedication as teachers. He said, "Teachers are the new age mentors.”
The event was a fun-filled affair where students had organized games and competitions like guess the celebrity, storytelling, etc. for faculty members. Due to the ongoing pandemic, only limited students could physically attend the event, but that did not stop students from expressing gratitude and wishing Teachers’ Day to their beloved teachers as they chose to reach out to their teachers digitally. The delightful event concluded with a vote of thanks leaving behind memories to be cherished for life.
