CMS Business School, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) conducted a guest lecture on “Mergers & Acquisitions - 360° View” on March 10, 2021. Dr. R. Satish Kumar, Professor, CMS Business School, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) was the faculty coordinator for the session. The lecture was conducted as a part of the emerging practices in the international business course of the 4th semester for MBA in Aviation. A total of 38 students from the batch of 2019-2021, MBA in Aviation attended the session.
The keynote speaker for the session was Mr. Subramanian U, Regional Sales Manager, India & SAARC countries. Mr. Subramanian is an MBA graduate with over 15 years of experience in IT Solutions and has played techno-commercial roles in various companies, including Wipro Ltd. He is currently associated with Cisco, India.
Mr. Subramanian highlighted the importance of mergers and acquisitions in achieving corporate objectives such as enhancing the product portfolio and market share. He explained how mergers and acquisitions have helped even a giant company like Cisco to diversify its product portfolio and offer a bundle of solutions to the clients. He further explained the role of sales professionals in mergers and acquisitions by citing his examples from Cisco. He further added that every merger and acquisition brings along opportunities as well as challenges. He also spoke about how the HR department plays a crucial role in synergizing the cultures of the acquirer and target companies. He shared his experience of mergers and acquisitions at Cisco to explain that every merger and acquisition brings in new products, services, and customers. He emphasized that every sales professional must acquire the ability to quickly adapt and perform in ever-changing business scenarios.
