A Seven-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Data Analysis Using SPSS

CMS Business School, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) conducted an online seven-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled ‘Data Analysis Using SPSS’ in collaboration with International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), Institute of Analytics (IOA), London, UK, IMDR Center for Data Analytics (ICEDA), Kerala, and Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, Tamil Nadu. The program took place on the working days between April 26, 2021, and May 4, 2021. The guest speakers for the event were Dr. Vinod Kumar Murti, Country Head of India, Institute of Analytics, and Dr. Jacqueline Kareem, Christ University, Bangalore. A total of 60 participants attended the program, which included faculty members and research scholars from various institutions.

The FDP provided a balanced blend of conceptualization and theory-building through hands-on practical sessions on SPSS. The program explored the basics of SPSS and its role in improved decision-making. In addition to providing a foundation in some fundamental concepts of statistics, it created a platform for a continuing dialogue on statistics, SPSS, and research methodology-based concepts. The FDP delivered information on systematic usage of SPSS for completing descriptive analysis for a given data set. It also highlighted the use of SPSS for completing selected tools of inferential statistical analysis for a given data set with a special focus on parametric and non-parametric tests. The session also included an online quiz and addressed various questions related to data analysis through SPSS asked by participants.

The coordinators for the FDP were Dr. Madhavi R, Associate Professor, CMS Business School, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Dr. Chaya Bagrecha, Professor, CMS Business School, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), and Dr. John Valluri, Assistant Professor, CMS Business School, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). Overall the event was a success and generated appreciation and positive feedback from participants for its informative value.
