The first session of HR cafe was conducted on 24 January 2020 at HR lab. There were 21 participants which included junior and senior batches of CHR, MHR and FHR. Respected Dean Jain (Deemed-to-be University), CMS B School- Dr. Harold Andrew Patrick shared valuable insights on utilizing such opportunities for developing skills needed for growth and prosperity in today’s chaotic business environment. Respected HR Area Head – OB & HR, Dr. Uma Warrier, addressed the audience on the vision of what HR cafe should be and what should be its objectives. Dr. Uma Ma’am motivated all by sharing precious insights on how students can fulfill their aspirations through experiences and relevant exposure at the HR Cafe by bridging the gap between Industry expectations and student skilling. HR Cafe coordinators, Dr. Monoo John (Associate Professor- Human Resource Area) and Dr. Nishant Singh (Associate Professor- Human Resource Area were also presented with Jain University badges by Dean and HR area Head.
Our special Guest Ms. Annapurna A. graced the occasion and supported us throughout as a member of the Judging Panel for the HR Strategy Game and as Resource person for the interaction program as part of the Industry – Institution connect being undertaken by HR Cafe’. Ms. Annapurna A is a HR Leader, Behavioral assessor, Founder and CEO – Emotionalytics and Co. and Co- Chairperson of WEEF- ASSOCHAM.

The judging panel comprising Ms. Annapurna and Dr. Uma Warrier went about assessing the efforts of the teams and also guiding them on the right approach. In their final evaluation they emphasized on the daily challenges that students will have to encounter and face at their workplaces and how they will have to strategies and work as effective members of their teams to succeed. This activity was named as CORTADO- with the slogan ‘A perfect blend of style and structure’.

Students were eager to know more and kept engaging with Annapurna Ma’am till the very end. Dr. John followed up with an introduction to the Buddy system and explained how students can benefit out of an active buddy system in the context of successful placements and recognizing job opportunities. The HR cafe was an enjoyable and enriching experience for all and we dispersed with the knowledge that future HR Cafe events will be enriching as well.
