Listening to a recognized Industry leader on trends in Learning and development was inspiring not for students alone but also for the faculty. Dr. Suresh was our Guest Expert from industry for the day. Dr. Suresh is a seasoned, well rounded & blended HR & Law professional with 25+ years of Industry Experience in various corporates viz., Manufacturing, FMCG, Telecom IT and ITeS companies, which is put to use in Academia & Higher Education domain. A busy Visiting Professor, he is also associated with many leading private Universities, Law Schools & B-Schools at Bangalore. Dr. Suresh has given Guest Lectures at Oxford University London and Queen Margaret University, Scotland.

He is a Corporate Trainer for Industries in the domains of Strategy, Conflict Management, Personality Development and soft skills. Labor Laws & Industrial Relations (IR) / Employee Relations Management (ERM), Conflict & Change Management. He has effectively translated, and Aligned Corporate Business Strategy to HR strategy as a True HR Business Professional.

He is the Author of a book titled: Best Business Practices in Industry and is Chief Trainer for Huawei Technologies, ITC and Mind Teck. Dr. Suresh is also a Practicing Lawyer. He is currently Director Human Resources – Girmiti Software. The session commenced with a warm welcome to Dr. Suresh by HR Area Head Dr. Uma Warrier after which student representative Ms. Punam Kumari read out Dr. Suresh’s profile. Dr. Suresh started the session with a detailed narration of the importance of aligning Training and development to business objectives. He shared his experiences as HR Manager and in Learning and development with the student participants. The instant rapport and connect that was created between Dr. Suresh and student participants paved the way for positive sharing on such areas as:

a) Learning Motivation and performance,
b) Relationship of motivation and self - efficacy with effectiveness of training
c) Role of HRD in the performance of organizations
d) Expectancy theory and its application and
e) Bandura’s Social Learning theory and its relevance.
