MAT Eligibility

To be eligible for the MAT exam, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

There is no minimum score required to apply for the MAT exam. However, the college where the candidate is applying usually requires at least 50% marks in graduation.

Final year students of an undergraduate programme can also apply for the MAT exam. However, they are required to submit their final marksheet to the college where they are applying before the due date.

Applicants who have a professional qualification like Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretary or the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) are also eligible to take the MAT exam.

MAT Registration Process

The CBT and PBT exam registration process for the 2026 MAT exam is currently ongoing. You can complete the registration by following the steps below.

1. Visit the official AIMA–MAT website:
2. Click on the Register option.
3. Add personal information like name, birth date, email ID, mobile number, state, city, preferred test mode and password.
4. Authenticate with the MAT ID that you received on the registered email address and mobile number.
5. On the second page, choose your choice of test mode (CBT or PBT), city of test and five preferred B-schools.
6. Pay the application fee with the help of a debit card, a credit card, net banking or e-wallet.
7. Complete the MAT 2026 application with academic qualifications and other relevant information.
8. Add a current passport-size image and scanned signature.
9. Submit the form to finalise the process of MAT registration.

Please note: MAT PBT and MAT CBT are conducted in different cities.
Before applying, you should see whether your preferred mode of test is available in your city.
The test city once selected cannot be modified once the form has been submitted, and therefore, the selection should be done carefully.
The application fee of MAT cannot be refunded, and therefore, candidates are advised to apply only when they are willing to take the exam.

MAT Exam Syllabus

The MAT exam syllabus is prescribed by AIMA. The MAT exam duration is 2 hours, and the exam consists of 150 questions.
