CMS Business School, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) in collaboration with Rotary Club of Platinum City and Karunashraya Bangalore Hospice Trust conducted a “Cancer Awareness & Hair Donation Drive” on February 27, 2021.
The event on Cancer Awareness & Hair Donation Drive was an attempt to inculcate a sense of gratitude, sensitivity, and empathy amongst the students. The stigma around having cancer prevents people from seeking the help they require, causing their illness to progress to more severe stages. This event was a sincere effort to open a dialogue about cancer and its many facets: from early screening to the prevention of cancer and how as a society we can act as a catalyst to make the patients feel more comfortable.
The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Suresh Ramu, Co-founder, and CEO of CyteCare Super Specialty Cancer Hospitals, Bangalore. He enlightened the audience with information on cancer such as types of cancers, reasons for developing cancers, treatment details of cancers, and prophylactic measures, etc.
Besides the awareness campaign, a hair donation drive to support the needs of cancer warriors was also conducted, especially to understand the ache women and children feel who lost their hair to this illness. There were 12 donors including faculty members who contributed to the hair donation drive and strictly maintained the protocol of social distancing to conduct the objectives of the event.
The event was highly successful it motivated the spirit of life within us and also taught about the courage, and determination one needs to fight this battle against cancer.
