Bengaluru, 24 October 2025: A guest lecture on Social Entrepreneurship was organised on 24 October 2025 at Seminar Hall 3, 1st Floor, FMS–CMS, BS–JU, bringing together students and faculty for an in-depth academic interaction on purpose-driven business models. The session was coordinated by Dr M. Nalini, Faculty Coordinator, and featured Prof. Sourav Mukherji, Dean – Alumni and Dean – Academics, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, as the distinguished speaker.
The three-hour academic engagement explored the evolving intersection of entrepreneurship, innovation, and social responsibility. Prof. Mukherji examined how entrepreneurial thinking can be applied to address complex societal challenges while remaining economically sustainable. Drawing from institutional experience and real-world case studies, the session highlighted the role of ethical leadership, long-term value creation, and impact-oriented decision-making in contemporary business practice.
With participation from over 100 students, the event encouraged critical dialogue on moving beyond profit-centric models towards enterprises that balance economic viability with social good. Students actively engaged in discussions on responsible leadership, inclusive growth, and the practical challenges of building scalable social ventures. The lecture aligned closely with the institution’s emphasis on experiential learning and socially conscious management education.
Reflecting on the session, Prof. Sourav Mukherji noted, “Social entrepreneurship is not an alternative to business—it is an evolution of it. When future leaders learn to integrate purpose with performance, they create organisations that are resilient, relevant, and deeply impactful.”
Dr M. Nalini, Faculty Coordinator, added that such interactions play a vital role in broadening students’ academic perspectives and grounding theoretical knowledge in real-world relevance.
The event reinforced the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, ethical leadership, and meaningful industry–academia engagement. Similar expert lectures and knowledge-sharing initiatives are planned as part of the ongoing academic enrichment programme.
