Bengaluru, 18 September 2025: CMS Business School, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), successfully organised a three-day workshop on Data Analysis in Economics Using SPSS from 15 to 17 September 2025 at Seminar Halls 4, 5, and 6, FMS-CMS Campus. The workshop was designed for MBA Batch 2025–27 (Semester I) students as part of the Business Economics course and their CIA III research paper.
The intensive training, attended by nearly 1,000 students, aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of statistical concepts and their application in economic research through SPSS. The sessions were led by distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Senthil Kumar B, Dr. Gnanendra M, Dr. Shashikanth Dixit, Dr. Srinivasan P, and Dr. Rupesh Kumar Sinha.
Over three days, students were introduced to key aspects of research methodology, sampling techniques, data types, and measurement scales. They engaged in practical exercises covering descriptive statistics, correlation, ANOVA, Chi-Square, t-tests, and regression analysis. Each session emphasised not only the execution of statistical tests but also the interpretation of outputs using p-values, significance levels, and confidence intervals. Interactive demonstrations, real-life examples, and hands-on practice enhanced the learning experience.
Speaking about the event, Dr. Senthil Kumar B, Faculty Coordinator, remarked:
“Our objective was to bridge the gap between theory and application by equipping students with the analytical skills necessary for their academic research and future careers. The workshop’s interactive design enabled participants to gain immediate, practical exposure to SPSS, ensuring they left with both conceptual clarity and applied competence.”
The workshop marked an important step in preparing students to conduct rigorous research for their course assessments and beyond. By fostering critical thinking and data-driven analysis, the initiative has laid a foundation for students to excel in their academic journey and professional pursuits in business and economics.
