Weaving Ancient Wisdom into Modern Management: Five-Day FDP Explores Indian Knowledge Systems

20 Jun 2026

Bengaluru, 20th June 2026 - In alignment with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines, the Faculty of Management Studies hosted an intensive five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled "Transforming MBA Education through Indian Knowledge Systems towards Ethical, Value-Based, and Sustainable Practices." Held from 16 to 20 June 2026 at the CMS Business School campus, the initiative designed structured pathways for integrating traditional frameworks into the modern business curriculum.

The programme brought together a distinguished panel of eminent resource persons, including Dr L. Sudershan Reddy, Dr Siva Kumar, Dr Raghavendra Rao, Dr Arati V. B., and Dr Rajani Jairam. Throughout the five days, these experts analysed methods to embed India's historical intellectual traditions into postgraduate business education, drawing evidence from classical scriptures such as the Vedas, Upanishads, and epics.

Bridging Classical Texts and Core Business Disciplines

Each session established direct, practical connections between these timeless texts and core MBA disciplines. Rather than treating traditional philosophy as purely historical or theoretical, the discussions focused on its immediate application to contemporary management principles, leadership competencies, organizational behaviour, and strategic decision-making.

By grounding business ethics and sustainability in classical philosophy, the sessions demonstrated how future executives can be trained to look beyond short-term metrics toward responsible, values-driven corporate governance.

Driving Curriculum Innovation Forward

The FDP was organised and coordinated by the IKS Committee of CMS Business School. Moving forward, the committee remains committed to introducing a continuous series of initiatives designed to cultivate well-rounded, ethically grounded, and comprehensive learning experiences for young management professionals.
