JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) Hosts National Conference on Transforming Libraries

The Learning Resource Centre of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), in collaboration with the Karnataka State Library Association (KALA) and LIS Academy, Bangalore, successfully hosted a two-day National Conference titled "Transforming Libraries: A Synergy between Accreditation, Technology, and Academic Excellence" on 23rd and 24th May 2025. The event was held at the Faculty of Management Studies, CMS Business School, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru.

The conference aimed to explore the evolving role of libraries in strengthening academic institutions by integrating accreditation frameworks with technological advancements. It brought together a diverse group of library professionals, academics, and thought leaders from across the country to engage in meaningful discussions on the future of learning resources.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Prithviraj, Librarian of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), and was presided over by distinguished dignitaries. Chief Guest Dr. B.D. Kumbar, Vice Chancellor of Davanagere University, and Guest of Honour Dr. P.V. Konnur, President of LIS Academy, Bengaluru, shared their insights on the pivotal role libraries play in shaping quality education. Dr. Shekara H.P., Librarian at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), chaired the session, while Professor (Dr.) B.T. Sampath Kumar from Tumkur University delivered the keynote address.

Across multiple sessions, the conference featured engaging presentations and discussions that showcased research on cutting-edge themes. A significant highlight was the presentation of the Best Paper Award to Ms. Simya K. and Dr. Rupesh Kumar A. for their paper titled "Open Access Citation Advantage: Evidence from Scholarly Productivity Analysis of Top Ten NIRF–Ranked Universities."

Speaking about the event, Dr. Shekara H.P. remarked,

"This conference has reaffirmed our belief that libraries are not merely repositories of knowledge but dynamic ecosystems that foster innovation, critical thinking, and academic integrity. The synergy between accreditation and technology is crucial in aligning libraries with contemporary educational standards."

The conference concluded with a valedictory session, graced by Guest of Honour Dr. S.L. Kadadevara Math, President of KALA and the Read Book Foundation. Although unable to attend in person, the Chief Guest, Mrs Uma Mahadevan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Government of Karnataka, conveyed her appreciation for the impactful execution of the event and its contribution to academic discourse.

Participants praised the conference for its relevance, organisation, and intellectual depth, with many expressing enthusiasm for future collaborations. The event served as a platform to forge new connections, share innovations, and reiterate the central role of libraries in the digital transformation of higher education.
